Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

The T.I.G Welder is responsible for various types of weld preparation, including fitting, welding, and weld finishing operations on stainless steel parts using Tig process.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

  1. Tig weld stainless steel components based on the specifications of the blueprints and/or drawings (1G, 2G, 3G or 4G positions)
  2. Reads and interprets blueprints to determine specific welding/assembly requirements.
  3. Sets-up welding machines based on the job requirements or using a Welding Procedure Specification (set welding program on equipment, create weld parameters, amps, gas flow, polarity, etc.)
  4. Follows and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications and proper loading of parts.
  5. Lays out, positions, aligns and secures parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination/framing squares and tape measure based on the specifications of the blueprints and/or drawings.
  6. Finishes grinding applications using manual and power tools when needed (grinders, sanders, cutters etc.)
  7. Detects faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notify the supervisor.
  8. Monitors the welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion or expansion of material.
  9. Use of conventional and precision measuring instruments (calipers/measuring tape).
  10. Assembles items as instructed by supervisor/manager.
  11. Follows all safety rules and quality standards including all company policies and procedures.
  12. Performs job assignments in a safe and productive manner while maintaining high quality levels.
  13. Adheres to standardized work practices in a continuous improvement environment.
  14. Keeps work areas clean and organized while taking care of all equipment and facilities.
  15. Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Knowledge of blueprint reading, drawings, calipers, grinders, hand clamps, and measuring tapes.
  2. Ability to weld light gauge stainless steel material (.048" - .120")
  3. Successful completion of an internal welding test
  4. Ability to perform simple shop math, convert decimals to fractional equivalents and fractions to decimal equivalents.
  5. Must be able to work in a fast-paced high volume production environment under tight time constraints.
  6. Must possess an understanding of production procedures.
  7. Must adhere to health and safety regulations (consistent use of P.P.E including but not limited to protective gloves, safety glasses, TIG (Tungsten inert gas), TIG welding equipment and welding masks.)
  8. High level of attention to detail
  9. Must have excellent time management skills and work ethic.
  10. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including verbal and written.
  11. Ability to work independently and as a team member.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Must be able to stand continuously for long periods of time.
  2. Must be able to perform out of position welds (leaning, bending, reaching over)
  3. Must be able to lift and transport 50 lbs. at a time
