Job Summary
The Department of Chemistry in the College of Arts and Sciences at Georgia State University (GSU) seeks exceptional candidates for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position.

GSU and the Department
GSU, a world-class public doctoral research university with more than 54,000 students, is in downtown Atlanta, Georgia. GSU has recently invested significantly into its academic enterprise and is among the Carnegie Foundation’s elite category of Very High Research Activity (R1). GSU is ranked No. 1 in public universities for undergraduate teaching and No. 2 for innovation (U.S. News & World Report, 2022).

The Department of Chemistry is a fast-growing program with forty faculty. Students and faculty contribute to cutting-edge externally funded research at the chemistry and bio/medical science interface. Qualifications For the Position
Essential qualifications: A Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or a related field, and post-doctoral experience is required. The primary evaluation criteria are outstanding research accomplishments, the ability to establish an independent research program with significant extramural funding, an unwavering dedication toward excellence in teaching, and a demonstrated commitment to working with Georgia State student and faculty populations.

Preferred qualifications include but are not limited to understanding biological processes, the mechanism of interaction of small molecules with nucleic acids or proteins, large biomolecular motors (machines), enzyme catalysis, drug design, drug delivery, or understanding complex biological processes.

The bio-related research focus will ensure synergy with other research programs in the Department of Chemistry and other units within the College of Arts and Sciences, the Institute of Biomedical Sciences, and the Byrdine F. Lewis School of Nursing and Health Professions.
