Positive Avenues is a Resource & Recovery center offering a safe place for adults experiencing mental health concerns or homelessness. Our mission is to provide trauma -informed recovery-oriented services that assist individuals in gaining stability and becoming more active community members. We provide crisis stabilization services to the clients we serve.

Under supervision, provides para-professional counseling or social services to children, adolescents, and adults; and performs other duties as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.
* Gathers information and assists in assessing problems and needs of family members.
* Provides direction and role-modeling of parenting skills, child management, home and budget management, and stress and anger management on an intensive in-home basis.
* Establishes and maintains effective public and working relationships.
* Establishes and maintains files and records of progress notes, correspondence, and case histories.
* May provide transportation for customers to appointments or activities.
* Attends and participates in staff development programs.
* Observes and records customers' behavior and offers input concerning the development and follow through of treatment plans.
* Participates as a member of a quality team and interacts with primary, external, and internal customers of the agency in such a way that the customers experiences increasing quality.
* Performs other duties as required.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
* Graduation from high school or GED equivalency is required.
* One (1) year of responsible work experience or one (1) year of accredited training.
* Working knowledge of family dynamics, family systems, child management, and parenting techniques.
* Working knowledge of welfare, health, mental health, and community resources.
* Working knowledge of the federal, state, and local rules and regulations governing the delivery of social services.
* Working knowledge of social problems and their effects on individuals and families.
* Ability to interpret service programs to customers, families, and others.
* Ability to organize and plan work effectively.
* Ability to establish and maintain effective public and working relationships.
* Ability to accurately gather and record detailed information and facts.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must have a valid driver's license and have reliable transportation to perform the essential duties of the role; a motor vehicle check (MVR) with a satisfactory driving record per the LSS Driver Safety Procedure is required, and ability to meet LSS auto insurance requirements.
TRAVEL: Ability to travel on day trips as required up to 80%. Some overnight travel may be required.
