Job Description
CI Leader, Lean Facilitator, Lean Master, Lean Engineer
Firetrace is a $40M revenue business that designs and assembles fire suppression systems in our 50,000 sq. ft. HQ facility in Scottsdale, Arizona.  Currently the business employs 100 people; all functions are based in Scottdale, except for the sales team, which is spread throughout North America, Europe, the Middle East, India, Africa and Southeast Asia.
Firetrace has been part of Halma plc (LSE: HLMA) since 2015 and has ambitious growth plans.  The growth of the business has enhanced the need for a strong Process Engineer to join the organization and influence implementation of best practices that drive organizational performance.
As the CI Leader at Firetrace, you will develop and oversee the development of the continuous improvement culture of the organization.  Working together with Engineering and members of the Production team, you will have a pivotal role to:  
  • Be the point person for the manufacturing plant transformation, coordinating multi-disciplinary teams including Engineering, Quality and Production to improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout
  • Liaison with Engineering, Production and Quality to support on time delivery, production efficiency and zero defects. 
  • Facilitate the setting of priorities, objectives, goals, measures and metrics for process improvement project, ensuring that these are monitored and controlled. 
  • Build understanding of and commitment to lean principles to accomplish the improvement goals for the organization.
  • Facilitate kaizen events and train employees on lean tools and kaizen methodology 
  • Create and execute a plan that ensures Trainers provide qualified operators to complete customer orders and upskill for future.
  • Provide manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements
  • Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes by research of industry best practices; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators
 
Qualifications that will help you to be successful in this role include:
  • Strong project management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately diagnose a problem, assess options and make recommendations
  • Inspire and influence without authority and challenge status quo
  • Ability to organize and complete on time all project tasks, goals, timelines
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and be proactive on tasks and project handling
  • Ability to be part of a team as well as work independently
  • Proven track record of developing teams
  • Experience in manufacturing operations, quality and continuous improvement
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical or Aerospace preferred
  • Clear progression toward aspiring to Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt.
