Job Description
Do you want to create a world-class manufacturing team inside of a global company?  Firetrace is searching for a leader to join our internal board as VP Operations, reporting directly to the company President.  Initially, you will focus on guiding the culture of the Operations team to align with our new market segmentation strategy, delivering high value to the customers we serve.  You will use your strong communication skills to empower your team to lead the processes forward and add value through the business. As we move forward, the role will be to globalize our operations and support customers from multiple sites.

At Firetrace International (www.firetrace.com), you have the opportunity to make a significant difference in the world by delivering innovative fire suppression systems for specific industrial applications.  Halma plc (www.halma.com) is our parent company, with a meaningful purpose “to grow a safer, cleaner, healthier future for everyone, every day.”  Halma plc was named one of Britain's Most Admired Companies in 2019, providing innovative solutions to many of the key problems facing the world today. Listed on the London Stock Exchange (HLMA) since 1972, Halma is now recognized as a FTSE 100 business.

We are currently a $30M revenue company, with sales in diverse geographical areas.  Our headquarters are based in Scottsdale, Arizona, and we have a sales team based across North America and worldwide (Europe, Middle East, China, India, SE Asia, and Africa).

Role Summary
We would expect this leader to be able to make improvements by reducing obsolescence, maintaining our high on-time delivery while reducing lead time, reduce supply chain costs, and enable our expansion to international facilities to fulfill our customers’ needs locally.
The VP Operations has the following fundamental core objectives:
  1. Manage all operational, supply chain and quality aspects of our business, while shifting the culture to support our customers
  2. Implement the shift to have global partners and facilities that allow us to be local to our global customers
  3. Build an empowered group that implements lean enterprise throughout the organization
  4. Be an engaging, pro-active, challenging, and fully participating member of the board. Demand excellence across your team and the whole business.
This role will require a person known to be both a team player and a team builder that welcomes outside ideas and thoughts, curious to discover ways in which we can continuously deliver high-value to our customers.  Experience in a matrix environment – leading through influence and not control – would help you succeed in our market segment structure.  Must have a partnership mindset, focused on solutions to win as a team.

Specific responsibilities
  • Talent development of the Firetrace operations team, including purchasing and supply chain, manufacturing, manufacturing engineering, quality, shipping, and facilities
  • Deliver an ongoing continuous improvement plan that drives excellence into our business, and improves profit, through elimination of waste
  • Execute fulfillment of our order book, and deliver customer satisfaction as measured (at least) in terms of on-time delivery, quality, and positive customer feedback
  • Day to day management of order delivery, reporting of progress on hitting daily, weekly and monthly targets.  Highlight risk, and propose and implement mitigations as necessary
  • Develop international supply chain plan, aligned to new growth strategy
  • Participate in new product development, to ensure all critical success factors are implemented for successful transition into production
  • Implement a sourcing strategy that organizes our supply chain to maximize customer service and product availability, drive down total acquisition cost, and ensure inventory level is fit for purpose
  • Optimize ERP system, to ensure visibility throughout the life-cycle of the order
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and quality are maximized, at minimal transactional cost
If you have this knowledge, skills and experience, we encourage you to apply:
  • ERP optimization
  • International supply chain development
  • Willing to travel and build teams internationally
  • Great interpersonal skills – people enjoy working with you to solve challenges
  • An effective listener and culture champion
  • Willingness to dive deep for an interim period
  • A good eye for detail while still seeing the broader picture
  • Lean implementation skills
  • Value proposition work
  • Segment focused work
  • At least 5 years of career progression in a manufacturing operations management role
  • Business and financial acumen, typically obtained through a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or experience developing business proposals
