Job Summary:

The Environment Health & Safety Intern is responsible to establish, promote, and maintain safe working programs and practices to identify, recommend, and implement measures that reduce industrial health and accident hazards. This includes carrying out assigned tasks that maintain compliance with safety and environmental regulatory statutes and permit obligations of the company.

Job Responsibilities:

Safety

  • Work with Safety and Production Managers to ensure the effective application of established safety practices, utilization of safety equipment and devices and to investigate and eliminate hazardous conditions and unsafe

  • Participate in the development and implementation of department specific safety goals and procedures in accordance with regulatory

  • Select and propose the purchase of standard manufactured safety

  • Actively participate in employee safety committee meetings, inspections, and activities to promote and increase employee engagement in Broan's safety program.
  • Participate in accident investigation techniques through the review of first aid, employee, and supervisor accident investigations and reports. Review shall include follow-up activities with production managers/supervisors to ensure reports are properly completed and that potential corrective measures are thoroughly reviewed and implemented when/where

SDS/MSDS Updating/Review

  • Organize, update, and standardize the SDS/MSDS program in accordance with OSHA standards.

Environmental

  • Perform environmental inspections as

Job Requirements:

  • Working towards EHS or other technical related degree: Junior or Senior status of Bachelor's degree program or equivalent.
  • Coursework in ergonomic human factors, environmental management, manufacturing, OSHA/regulations, six sigma or lean tools, and/or chemical management
  • Experience in lockout/tag out programs, machine guarding, industrial hygiene, confined space work, powered industrial trucks, and project management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint including Share Point.
  • Previous experience in an EHS organization is preferred.
  • Good presentation, speaking, organizational, and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent written communication skills and ability to document technical information in an easy to understand and straightforward manner
  • Willingness to work flexible hours when needed to accomplish training and attend
